Soldier worked as special agent

Sgt. 1st Class James Watts currently works for the Directorate of Plans Training, Mobilization and Security. His job is to maintain the contingency operation locations on Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center where Soldiers live and train.

“I enjoy my job. I work with great people and that makes my job a lot easier,” he said. Watts, a native of Columbia, is a member of the 890th Engineer Battalion Headquarters Company located in Gulfport.

The Black History Month theme for 2012 is “Black Women in American Culture and History.” Every year in February, we recognize the achievements and contributions of African-Americans throughout the history of the U.S.

African-American women have been making tremendous accomplishments throughout this nation, not only in the Armed Forces, but in other fields such as theater, music, literature, politics, law and advocacy.

27th IBCT Soldiers Cheer for Giants

The following is a press release from Camp Shelby:

Soldiers from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, took a short break from training for an overseas deployment with First Army Division East to watch Super Bowl XLVI at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center. Soldiers were able to cheer for the New York Giants in either one of the six unit day rooms, the unit Tactical Operations Center or the Camp Shelby Post Theater, provided by the CSJFTC Morale, Welfare and Recreation department.

CSJFTC welcomes back Chaplain

Chaplain (Capt.) Terry Dwayne Hill, Sr. is a new addition to the chaplain team at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.

He is serving as the incoming brigade chaplain for the 158th Infantry Brigade.

His job requires him to provide care, counseling and spiritual leadership to more than 400 Soldiers of the Active Army, Army Reserves and National Guard.

Additionally, he is responsible for advising the commander on issues relating to religion, ethics, morale and morality. He provides Unit Ministry Team training to brigades and units who are training at CSJFTC.

It is my honor to say welcome to Brig. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, Mississippi Adjutant General, as we bid a fond farewell to Maj. Gen. William L. Freeman.

It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to such a great leader and mentor. Thank you Sir, for your support to Camp Shelby and the team of dedicated Soldiers and civilians who serve here, and I wish all the best to you and your family for your future endeavors.
