Priority will be given to senior citizens, first responders, and others with special needs.

Forrest General Spirit of Women, American College of Cardiology to Offer Free Heart Health Screening

Forrest General’s Spirit of Women program is partnering with The American College of Cardiology’s CardioSmart initiative, a program that encourages patients to play an active role in their own heart health, to offer free cardiovascular health screenings on Feb. 16 as part of a National Heart Health Awareness Day taking place at major health care institutions across the country. This screening will coincide with Spirit of Women’s Day of Dance, the hospital’s largest annual health screening event, which focuses on the benefits of dance for heart health.

Pine Belt residents are invited to get moving toward better heart health at the 9th Annual Day of Dance, hosted by Forrest General’s Spirit of Women. Each year, this FREE interactive community event brings the Pine Belt together for an educational celebration of the benefits of dance and exercise for the prevention of heart disease. This year’s Day of Dance will include FREE health screenings and assessments, consumer education on heart disease, dance instruction, entertainment, door prizes, vendor booths and more!

The American Red Cross is responding to damage reported in Central and South Mississippi counties following severe weather yesterday.

 Salvation Army Feeding Units Become Feeding Hub of the Pine Belt

As the day dawned in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Salvation Army Disaster Response teams from across Mississippi began descending upon the Hub City to provide feeding, hydration, and comfort kits to residents working to clean up following Sunday’s tornado.

Six Mobile feeding units will be working throughout the day providing for the needs of residents.

Units will be positioned at the following locations:
·        Hattiesburg Unit: Petal Harvey Baptist Church, 600 South Main Street, Petal, Miss.
