Do you like to crochet  or knit? Come join the Pine Belt Fiber Artists and Producers, March 16 at 11:30 a.m. at A Stroka Gene-us Alpaca Farm. Bring a dish to pass for a pot luck lunch and whatever project you're working on. If you're not working on anything, come anyway and learn something new. If you interested in learning how to knit/crochet come to learn the basics and be hooked on the craft. Bring your own yarn and needles/hook or purchase at the farm. This is a free event.

Women's Army Corps veteran honored at Camp Shelby

World War Two veteran Maybert Titus Polk receives a medal from Rep. Steven Palazzo at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum Friday.

CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM)- A veteran of the Women's Army Corps who served in World War Two has been honored by Camp Shelby and Congressman Steven Palazzo.

Maybert Titus Polk received the Women's Army Corps Service Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal and the World War Two Honorable Service Lapel Button at a ceremony at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum Friday.

She served from 1943 to 1945 and worked in aircraft radio maintenance. Polk is a native of Pennsylvania, but has lived in Jefferson Davis County since the end of the war.
